Guest Rooms in Prince Edward County at the Merrill Inn
Our 13 guest rooms in Prince Edward County are housed in a heritage dwelling, the historic Merrill House. Built in 1870, it was initially designed as a residence for Prince Edward County’s first magistrate, Sir Edwards Merrill. Judge Merrill and his family lived here for several years until they built another similarly designed home on Hill Street, overlooking Picton Harbour. Since then, it has in turns been a private residence, full-floor apartments, and was eventually converted to an inn accommodation in the 1970s. Following their dream of opening a country inn of their own in Prince Edward County, veteran hoteliers Edward and Amy Shubert purchased the property in 2002 and so began its latest transformation.

Our front entrance has several steps, as does our rear entrance, and each floor is only accessible by stairs. Our dining room is on the lower level of the inn, and is a flight of steps down to access, both from the patio and the interior. If you have any issues with accessibility, please let our staff know at the time of booking and we will do our best to accommodate.
As much as we love animals, The Merrill Inn is not appropriate for pets. However, we will be pleased to help you make local arrangements.
As we are a small and intimate country inn and restaurant and each guest and reservation is very special to us.
